Veteran Destination Wedding Photographer, based in Asheville, NC shares a look at how one couple planned their perfect wedding day, that was truly a reflection of their personalities and priorities at June Bug Retro RV Resort.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but: Your Wedding Day is YOURS. ❤️
Wedding planning is often very stressful because couples forget this very simple fact!
Your Wedding Day should be a reflection of the two of you, of your love, your personalities, your interests, your priorities, your families & friends and of what sparks JOY for YOU….
It’s definitely not suppose to be about keeping up with the Kardashians, being Pinterest perfect, or spending an obscene amount of money trying to “impress” your guests for a few hours or any of the other bullshit we fool ourselves into thinking we “need” to have the most perfect day ever…. 🤷♀️ #truthbomb
Megan + Cam’s Wedding Day at June Bug Retro RV Resort was perhaps the most JOYFUL, AUTHENTIC, BEAUTIFUL, FUN Wedding Day that I’ve ever been part of ( I’ve shot well over 500 weddings in the last 12 years, so I’m basically the authority on this! LOL)
For me, the joyful, authenticity started with the decor! They chose to go with bright, joyful, colorful florals and decorations (which I don’t see all that often!) — because bright, cheerful color is most definitely a reflection of their sunny, positive, fun personalities! They’re also really funny and sentimental and so they included portraits of themselves at various ages in the center piece of the corresponding table number to give their guests a good laugh!
Next, they arranged their day & wedding photography timeline according to what their priorities were — what was truly important to them! This is HUGE.
Hear me out: You absolutely don’t have to do “what’s expected” or “what people usually do.” This. Is. YOUR. Day.
For Megan + Cam, those pre-ceremony, candid / photojournalistic portraits just weren’t all that important and that’s totally okay!😘 They wanted pre-ceremony time to be laid back & relaxed, a time to hang out & get ready with their best friends — without the intrusion of a camera in their space and I get it! (Not everything “has to be documented” if that’s not what you want! You can 100% save some things for just your personal memories with your friends!)
Megan + Cam also didn’t want to spend an exorbitant amount of time shoot portraits after the ceremony so they chose a First Look + Bridal Party Portraits before the ceremony so that after the Ceremony they could shoot a few family portraits and enjoy cocktail hour with their guests!
Finally — Family & Friends, and truly bringing those people together — becoming one, big family in celebrating this moment was truly important to them and they did it in the most spectacular way!😍
Their ceremony was unlike any that I’ve ever seen before — from the children’s parade after Megan came down the isle, to the format of the ceremony itself — which included a ‘passing of the peace’ between their guests! 🥰
They also incorporated an ice breaker game / a ‘scavenger hunt’ of sorts for their guests to play / so that they would get to know each other throughout the reception and I’ve literally never been to a reception where the Bride + Groom and their families & guests had more fun than this one!!! ALLLLL the good vibes here! 🥰
Enjoy this glimpse at Megan + Cam’s PERFECT Day! xo
