Asheville based Destination Wedding and Elopement Photographer shares a look at a Gorgeous October Wedding hosted at Agave of Sedona.
For the last thirteen years working in this industry, my constant aspiration has always been to travel as much as possible to shoot Weddings and Portrait Sessions in new and exciting locations. I LOVE to travel. I LOVE the change of scenery, I LOVE the challenge. There is literally NOTHING that thrills me more than being asked to document the best day of someone’s life in a new (to me) location! I mean — THAT is the DREAM, right!?… It is to me anyway! ❤️
In 2020, Jada + Josh entered my Win a FREE Luxury Engagement Session Experience Contest and I loved Jada immediately, her contest submission made me laugh out loud and I knew that they would be my ideal clients and the most fun ever and I wasn’t wrong! I chose them as my winners and that November, I flew out to Sedona, Arizona for the firs time, to shoot their Engagement Session. In the weeks leading up to their session, I did some Instagram research about where we’d shoot their session… I found Cathedral Rock and VERY naively was like: “we’re totally shooting at the top of this rock!” I’d lived my entire life in the mountains, I had been hiking since I could walk, and counted myself among the adventurous but I literally had NO IDEA what I was getting myself into! (I’m crying laughing as I write this. It will forever be one of the stupidest, most awesome things I’ve ever done). I pull into the parking lot at the trailhead that day and I was like: “Holy shit, that’s a BIG Mountain.” Josh had done hikes like that before, Jada had been going to a climbing gym for months…. and there I was, wildly unprepared for this expedition!!! There were moments on this hike were my knees were shaking, I couldn’t breath bc of the elevation, I thought I was gonna cry, throw up and pee my pants all at once and as we were standing on a 4inch ledge on the side of a cliff, Josh, sweetly said we could go back down but: I’m nothing if not determined. We made it to the top, shot the most EPIC Engagement Photos, toasted some champagne, laughed about how “Shared Trauma really brings people together” and then I wore a literal hole in the seat of my britches, scooting down that mountain in the dark… we had ONE headlamp between us.
The LOVE was mutual, Jada + Josh asked me to come back to Sedona in 2021 to shoot their Wedding Day and I exuberantly said YES! Editing their Wedding, relieving this trip and their day through these photos makes me want to shoot in Sedona every year! Sedona holds SUCH a special place in my heart. I would give almost anything to shoot in Sedona a few times per year…. If you can hear me, Universe, PLEASE make this happen for meeeee!?!?! ❤️
